Clemson Gameday Wreaths

Football season is so close... it's here, it's here! Saturday feels like Christmas and I cannot WAIT until it is here... let's hope Gameday Santa brings us a big win on Saturday!

And just like you decorate for Christmas, do you decorate for football season? If anything, a Clemson gameday wreath in orange and purple is a MUST for a Clemson Girl. Is your front door adorned with your gameday wreath yet?

Don't have one? Gameday wreaths are very easy to make on your own. Buy a foam wreath base from Michael's or Hobby Lobby, and wrap with fabric scraps, yarn, or ribbon - then add a tiger paw, a sign, some orange flowers -- whatever you'd like!

Here are some fun wreaths we found on Pinterest to inspire you...Click the photo to visit the Pin, and ultimately the source.

And if you happen to live in a house divided... a Georgia and Clemson house divided, then this wreath is for you.

Dreaming of orange colored walls...

When I first thought about it, painting any wall in my house Clemson orange made me think it would be way too bright, tacky, and how would you decorate that room? I've always loved the color orange {for obvious reasons}, but never imagined painting my rooms orange.

However, I quickly changed gears when I did a little browsing and found some photos of beautiful rooms with orange walls. Now I'm dreaming of an orange filled house...

What do you think? To paint orange or not to paint orange? Do you have any orange walls in your house?

Wedding Wednesday - DIY Orange & Purple Decor

Let's face it, weddings can be EXPENSIVE these days - after spending money on your photographer, cake, reception site, dress.... who has any money left over to decorate?

That's when you channel your inner Martha Stewart and take on some crafty Do It Yourself projects. We found some easy-to-do decor that would add an amazing pop of orange or purple to your big day without breaking your bank.

P.S. We also secretly want to try these to decorate our tailgate tent in the Fall...what do you think? :)

Who doesn't love tissue paper poms!! And who would have thought they could be so easy to create!

A wreath made out of butcher paper? You bet! These would be perfect for the entrance to the church -- your guests would enjoy being greeted by a creative floral display. And this wreath will last forever!

Isn't this flower beautiful? Guess what? It's made out of coffee filters...yes, coffee filters! You cannot even tell - these would be beautiful incorporated into table centerpieces, using shades of orange and purple of course.

I love these little dainty orange flowers - easily made out of orange crepe paper. These would look lovely as compliments to your guests favors, or as boutonnieres for the groom and his groomsmen. I think you could find many uses for these...so pretty!

I am officially a fan of fabric rossettes - and mostly because they really are so easy to make and are fool proof. You cannot mess these up! One of Clemson Girl's readers - Emily - has a cute and crafty blog of her own. She is always doing something creative and she's generous enough to share how... like this adorable Clemson necklace she made using - yup - fabric rossettes! These would be perfect bridesmaid gifts - as necklaces or as barrettes for the hair. And create extras for your hair...and headbands for your flower girls. Or use them as part of the boutonnieres... or maybe stick a few on your cake... I could go on and on... the possibilities are endless!

Add some orange color to virtually any favor by picking a fun and festive patterned fabric and tying it to your favor. Jellies, jams, jars of sweets - all are popular guest favors and can be easily decorated when covered with a small circle of fabric and an orange ribbon. Hands down the easiest craft on the list!

Clemson Girl reader Kelli and her husband eloped and spent their wedding savings on a fantastic honeymoon. However, they decided to have a small reception later for friends and family. Not willing to break the bank, Kelli came up with a creative way to add some orange and purple to her celebration - orange and purple bridesmaid bouquets. She made the bouquets for mere dollars by purchasing orange and purple fake flowers from the Dollar Tree and wrapping them in ribbon.

I love this festive heart garland - you could get married under strings of this garland, decorate your reception venue with it, or put a small strand connecting the bride and groom's chair at the reception. Enlist your bridesmaids to help, and you'll have yards and yards of orange heart garland in no time at all.

Here's another easy, easy, easy DIY project with impressive results - all you need is shades of orange ribbon. Just pick three different lengths of strands - measure and cut several strands of ribbon in each length - then simply tie each strand around a balcony, stair rail, etc. I love the look of this - especially for an outdoor wedding where a slight breeze will keep this decor moving to add to the effect.

Who would ever think to use masking tape to decorate anything?? And who would imagine the results would look like they do below!? This would be great for decorating vases or votives to use for your centerpieces. Buy a few white (or another solid color - purple?) vases at the dollar store, Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, etc. and decorate using the colored masking tape. Stick flowers in the vases and arrange on your guest tables for original (and affordable!) centerpieces with pops of color!

Decorate Your Tailgate - Inexpensive accessories for your Clemson tailgate

Whether you set up a tailgate for two or for twenty, it's always fun to put a little extra effort into the decor - having a festive orange and purple tailgate setup will put anyone in the Clemson spirit. I was reading the August issue of RealSimple magazine last night, and found out about a Web site for party decor called PlumParty.com. I decided to check it out and found a lot of cute items and ideas that would make any Clemson tailgate stand out. These items would also make fun 'thank you for feeding me all season' gifts for the hosts of tailgates that you frequent.

First, stock up your tailgate with orange and purple plastic cups. PlumParty.com has 24 packs of 9 oz. cups made of heavy duty quality plastic for only $4.25. Scroll a little down on their site below the cups and you'll find links to other serving accessories in the identical color, like purple and orange napkins in packs of 50 for only $4.25. Pack a permanent marker and make sure you write everyone's names on the cups so they can use it the entire day - makes for less waste. Or buy some cheap orange or puple ribbon at Walmart and glue them around the bottom, middle, or top of each cup to create an additional flair (floozy cup?) and also help your tailgaters identify their cups.

PlumParty.com also offers some adorable placemats to jazz up your tailgate. Use a solid purple tablecloth and offset your spreads of food by placing them on these funky orange and white placemats. Or, if you've got an orange tablecloth, try out these summery, purple tiki placemats that are 50% off their original price - so you get a pack of 4 for only $11! Place one under your utensils, another under your hot dips, and another under your sweets and desserts - it adds a little interest and depth to your table. Or place them together in a row down the center of your table to make your own table runner. And you're not limited to use them just for tailgating - they'll also come in handy at home.

Add some fun to your tailgate and try out these inflatable football baloons. You'll get a set of 10 for $38.00 - plenty for the entire football season! Stop by a gift store, grocery store, or dollar store on your way into town and get these inflated. Tie them with gift ribbon to your tailgate tent. Not only do they make for fun decorations, but it will make it easier for your friends to find your tailgate... "Look for the floating footballs".

Finally, during the October and November games, the wind picks up quite a bit - how often are you scrambling after your paper plates? putting keys on top of your napkins to keep them from blowing away? Why not purchase some adorable photo frame paper weights. Print out cute pictures of your kids in their Clemson attire, or of you and your friends from past Clemson games, or even pictures from your Clemson glory days... and put them into this paper weight frame. You only need three or so - spread them out on your table to keep your tablecloth from blowing up. Put one on your napkin stack, another on your plates. These can be reused and pictures changed out the entire season!

Finally, I wanted to share another tailgate-must accessory. Plastic plates with built in cup-holders! You can find these at most party supply stores (Party City), or purchase them online, like from this Web site, cateringsupplies.com, who offers 16 of the plates in various colors for only $8.35. Unfortunately, this Web site doesn't have orange or purple... but white would work! Your tailgaters will love the convenience of these.

So what other tailgate decor or accessories do you use for your tailgates? Do you have any tailgate ideas to share with us? Email us or post a comment to this blog.
