Vintage Clemson - a look into the past

Clemson Girl reader and 2007 Clemson alum Natalie Vereen-Davis emailed us and wanted to share a glimpse into a 1963 Clemson.

Natalie and her Uncle (Class of '64 and '66--B.S. and M.S.) were looking through his old photos when they stumbled upon these three photos of Death Valley in Clemson from October 1963.

It's amazing to look back and see how things have really changed... and... to see how things really haven't changed.

Check them out below. You can also see these photos and read more on Natalie's own blog.

Meesh & Mia – where fashion meets fans (+ a giveaway)

We are so excited to introduce you to this new fashion brand today, and once you see their super affordable Clemson gameday attire, you will be excited too!

Recently we were contacted by online boutique Meesh & Mia and they asked us to help get the word out to Clemson Girls about their big selection of Clemson shirts, skirts, sweaters and of course our favorite…dresses. One look at their super cute and versatile selection and we were more than eager to introduce you to them.

The great thing about Meesh & Mia’s clothes is that they can be worn for Clemson games, but also year round for work, class, etc. They combine comfort and chic. I’m having trouble narrowing down what I want to buy – I want it all!

Check out this gorgeous faux wrap top with rhinestone tiger paw – it’s also available in orange too of course. How cute with this be with skinny jeans, flats and a statement necklace?

I am so in love with this Clemson ruffle white tank – it’s so unique. And how good would this look paired with Meesh & Mia’s Clemson denim skirt – yes, a Clemson paw print denim skirt. Love!

They also carry this super cute Clemson t-shirt dress in several colors – including orange and purple of course. :) This dress looks so comfortable and would be great paired with brown tights and brown boots for the Fall. Or, stay cool in the Spring and pair it with your favorite pair of Clemson flip flops. I think I would probably wear this to lounge around the house too… And guess what? This dress is only $45!

And before we start dreaming about Spring weather, make sure you keep warm now – Meesh & Mia have us covered for outwear too! What do you think about this lovely, hooded zip up tunic? The back is the best part – love the lace-up corset detail. A fitted coat that shows off your curves? Yes please.

And cape-style coats are very on trend this year – especially paired with skinny jeans and boots. It really creates a dramatic, head-turning look… you will definitely turn heads in this gorgeous orange, Clemson cape from Meesh & Mia with the rhinestone Clemson tiger paw.

Meesh & Mia also sells a variety of Clemson scarves… these two are my favorites. How cute are the ruffle trim details? And of course, you have to love the tiger paw bling! :)

Finally, I think this Meesh & Mia signature flair tie cardigan is a must-have for every Clemson Girl. This chic orange cardigan is versatile enough that you can wear it all football season in different ways and you’ll look like you have on a new outfit every time. Watch the video from Meesh & Mia below to see a few of the fun ways you can style this cardigan….

Meesh & Mia wants you to spread the word about their great Clemson fashion – and they will reward you when you do! All you have to do is refer a friend to the site through their Refer a Friend program, and when the friend buys something, you get a $15 credit to spend on the site… refer two friends and get $30… refer three and get $45….and so on, and so on… How cool is that?

You can follow Meesh & Mia’s blog and see how they style their apparel for really cute gameday looks.

Get to know Ellis and Wiles Boutique (+ a giveaway)

One of the things we love most about doing this blog is connecting Clemson Girls with Clemson alum owned, small businesses. Today is another one of those great introductions.

Meet Ellis and Wiles Boutique – an online exclusive boutique that sells women’s clothing and accessories. All of their products are priced under $100 with a flat $7 shipping rate, making shopping with Ellis and Wiles super affordable. And...if you spend over $100, shipping is FREE!

Ellis and Wiles was just opened this past November by 2002 Clemson alum Tara Hill who now lives in Raleigh, NC. Her and her husband are avid Clemson fans and attend all of the Clemson home football games. They love to travel to Clemson even in the Spring and Summer as often as they can.

Ellis and Wiles offers a variety of fashionable products, but of course being Clemson alum owned, they have a variety of orange and purple perfect for your future Clemson gameday outfits.

One of my favorites is this ageless, orange button up dress. It would be perfect paired with brown leggings and boots in the Fall, or by itself with sandals in the Summer. You could also make this dress work appropriate and wear it for a future Solid Orange Friday. The best part about this dress is that it is only $36!

I also really like this versatile, long ivory wrap cardigan. Works well with purple or orange underneath.

Then top off the cardigan above with a beautiful orange scarf. This would make a great gift for a Clemson Girl…and speaking of gifts, you can also get gift certificates to Ellis and Wiles for the other Clemson Girls in your life.

When we had no words to say, this Clemson Girl said it best...

Last night.

We were all angry, shocked, disappointed, sad, frustrated, embarrassed, humbled...

etc., etc., etc.

It's true we're always Clemson Girls and we will cheer on the Tigers through thick and thin. I'll admit though, I was just so speechless after last night's game I really couldn't think of anything to say... nothing...nothing to post here to make you feel any better about last night. And I sat quietly and watched all of my gamecock friends post ugly comments about Clemson..and still I had nothing to say...I just wanted to leave well enough alone.

It wasn't until 9pm tonight that a friend of mine shared a link to a blog post from a fellow Clemson Girl and I found what we all need to hear..what every Clemson Girl needs to be reminded of...

So... I hope she doesn't mind that I'm sharing this link with you...take a look and read for yourself. It reminds you of why you are a Clemson Girl....and why last night's loss, and anything ugly WVU fans may say or USC fans may say...doesn't really matter.

Thanks to Jess for saying what most of us were thinking but couldn't quite put into words. If you have a moment, post a comment on HER blog and let her know you appreciate her reminding us why we are all Clemson Girls.

Go Tigers!

Clemson Two Dollar Tiger Bills - Bowl Bound How-To

From Wikipedia: "It has been a Clemson tradition dating from September 24, 1977 for Clemson fans to spend two dollar bills on away game trips. This began when Clemson played Georgia Tech 'for the last time' as Tech refused to travel to Clemson. Of the seventeen games played between Tech and Clemson between 1953 and 1977, only once, in 1974, did the Yellow Jackets deign to come to Death Valley. To show the Atlanta business community how much money Clemson fans contributed to the local economy which would not be coming to town anymore, Tiger fans spent vast quantities of two dollar bills, many of them stamped with Tiger Paws. This was the start of Clemson's two dollar bill tradition...."

:) Go Tigers! Beat WVU!
